I wanted to share some being single quotes with you today as I feel being single has a label attached to it that fosters a ‘pity’ response, and it definitely shouldn’t.
Up until the age of 32 I absolutely loved being single, I didn’t care what anybody thought, I laughed when people thought they had to match me up with someone, I laughed when people thought I was gay, and I laughed when people tilted their head to the side in a ‘Oh that’s a shame’ kind of way.
For me being single was a choice. Don’t get me wrong I was always looking for ‘the one’ but she hadn’t arrived for whatever reason, and I like to think I wasn’t quite ready to settle down at 31 or 32 years of age.
The thing is I didn’t panic about getting to a certain age and still being single, I sure as hell wasn’t going to settle for second best. So I happily strolled through life, on the lookout but not desperate to find mrs right. She did come along when I was 32 and it was lust at first sight, and then when I got to know her personality it quickly turned to love. We’ve now been together for 18 years and have two amazing sons.
As I said I loved being single and I could quite happily have lived my life as a single person, but not a lot of people could understand why I was happy being single. It’s crazy to think we actually need somebody in our life to make our lives complete.
