Events You Don’t Want To Miss

-

Here we go! It’s 2020 and we have a BIG year of astrology happenings to live through. This year brings an unusually high number of rare planetary transits that will definitely rock the boat. Knowing about them and choosing to work with the energy makes all the difference and spending a little time getting educated is worth the effort. 2020 calls us to get real honest about where we’ve been and where we are now, but it’s all in service of a better future. There’s plenty of tension, which is a catalyst for change, and change is the name of this game. From the inside out, we’re ready for something new and 2020 is like a crossroads. The choices we make, what we stand for, and how we respond to whatever happens during this year set the stage for years to come. We have a lot to cover, so let’s dive right into Astrology 2020: Events You Don’t Want To Miss.

Full Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Cancer (January 10)

We’re past this now, but the first lunar eclipse of 2020 was the opening show of the year and eclipse effects can linger, so we won’t leave it out. First of all, a penumbral eclipse is subtle, more so than a partial or complete eclipse. If it’s noticeable at all, a penumbral eclipse appears like a dark shading on the Moon’s face. But this doesn’t mean we don’t feel it. This Cancer Full Moon opposing the Sun in Capricorn illuminated our attachments to what seems “safe” by shaking our sense of security. The Cancer nature in us wants to feel at home and taken care of, but what used to protect or insulate us is not feeling so good anymore. We’re all doing some growing up, which comes with the need to move on.

Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn (January 12)

This event is the astrology headline for the year! Saturn-Pluto conjunctions only happen once every 33-38 years. These two powerhouses meet in the sign of Capricorn and they’re not playing around. There will only be one pass of this conjunction, but the effects will last throughout the year and possibly another beyond that. Over time, we’ve seen Saturn-Pluto conjunctions affect natural resources, financial systems, and leadership. For all of us, as individuals and collectively, we’ve reached maximum capacity in certain areas. It’s time to release the pressure by eliminating anything that is now just dead weight, holding us back. Our strength and integrity are being tested. When Saturn and Pluto line up, we all need to stand up straight. There’s just nowhere to hide with the planets of karma and evolution. Every action has a reaction or consequences, and it’s not a bad thing. It’s just not always comfortable seeing and owning up to it. This transit encourages us to stop wasting time and energy maintaining anything that isn’t really worth it. It’s an opportunity to get back on track and prepare for something entirely new on the horizon.

Mercury Retrograde in Pisces and Aquarius (February 16 – March 9)

The planet of communication and connections turns retrograde for several weeks several times each year and the first retrograde of 2020 begins in Pisces and ends in Aquarius. Anything infused with Pisces tends to make us spacey and disconnected from our bodies, so remember to stay grounded during this time while doing things like driving and using sharp utensils. As always, leave extra time and don’t assume you’ve understood things or that others understand you. A little clarification could save the day. Saturn enters Aquarius (March 21 – July 1, December 16)

Saturn spends about 2.5 years in each sign and will leave Capricorn for Aquarius on March 21. Due to its retrograde, it will dip back into Capricorn in July until December. On December 16 it will enter Aquarius again and stay there until March 2023. Saturn represents authority, structure, rules, and conditioning. It shows where and how we need to strengthen and mature. Aquarius is a world-minded, progressive sign that values new ways of looking at and doing things. It’s motivated to remove any obstacles to freedom which means it’s a huge threat to the past and the key to the future. This year gives you plenty of opportunities to redefine your role in the community and as a part of humanity. Politically, we can expect challenges that seem to divide us, but truly give us a new chance to come together and take responsibility for building something better.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto in Capricorn (April 4, June 29, November 12)

Jupiter and Pluto come together three times this year in the sign of Capricorn. Jupiter seeks the truth and Pluto represents shadow, so together they reflect our need to reveal the truth beneath the surface. This is a signature for transforming challenges into opportunities. Jupiter is the part of us that wants to see more, do more, and be more. So, while it might not come easy, you can turn your fear and frustration into fuel that will burn away the old and help you reach your potential. If you work hard and stay on track, this energy opens doors and invites synchronicity that can take you to the next level, especially in matters of career and accomplishment.

Venus Retrograde in Gemini (May 12 – June 24)

During Venus Retrograde, past romances sneak back into the present and anything you have a relationship with is up for question and redefinition. In the sign of dualistic Gemini, maybe two or more old lovers pop back into your life. Maybe you’re ready to face two different sides of yourself. If you need to choose between two relationships, this retrograde could have your number. Whatever may come up for you, Venus Retrograde is the perfect time to consider the outcomes of previous experiences instead of running from them. This helps you go forward with new wisdom and awareness.

Full Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius (June 5)

Lunar eclipses have a knack for revealing the truth and this one is opposing Venus Retrograde in Gemini. Any lies to yourself or others about your relationships are likely to come out. In Sagittarius, this full moon lunar eclipse helps you see the bigger picture, and the true state of a situation, maybe for the first time. Whatever it is you see under a different light, be ready to release anything that isn’t serving your soul.

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer (June 17 – July 12)

Mercury Retrograde 2020 round two is in Cancer, making the common mix-ups and mishaps most likely to happen at home and with family. If you know your front steps need repair, fix them before someone falls. And remember that Cancer is a sensitive, emotional sign. Expect miscommunications involving feelings and try not to take things too personally. If you’ve been avoiding an uncomfortable conversation with someone close to you, have it now before it has its way with you!

New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Cancer (June 20)

We’ve been working with a series of Cancer-Capricorn eclipses over the past year and a half. Collectively, we’re rebalancing masculine and feminine energies. These eclipses have been, and continue to, illuminate our need to find the sweet spot between family and career, self-care and ambition, and practicality and intuition. Cancer and Capricorn can also bring up childhood and parental wounds that need healing. The magic of Cancer is to love yourself and others through all the feelings. And to recognize your needs and find healthy ways of getting them met. This Cancer New Moon Solar Eclipse helps you realize that taking care of yourself, receiving your inner wisdom, and connecting with whoever you call family is vital to your overall well-being.

Full Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn (July 4)

This is the last of this series of Cancer-Capricorn eclipses. We won’t have another round until 2027. Do you have a better idea of what really matters to you and what’s worth going for? Maybe how you see yourself in the world and who you know yourself to be has shifted? If you’re reading this, chances are it has! The only thing you ever need to be is what you are. If you’ve put in the personal work, this Capricorn Full Moon Eclipse is the flash of inner satisfaction for a job well done.

Mars Retrograde in Aries (September 9 – November 13)

Mars turns retrograde once every two years, the least frequent of any planet. This is the time to check-in with your energy and how you’re using it. In the sign of Aries, you might feel more tired or run-down than usual, especially if you’ve been pushing yourself too hard. Even if you don’t want to, make an effort to slow down. Have the courage to face your fears and consider new ways to work with challenges. Get re-energized about the things worth pursuing. Reclaim your inner warrior and align yourself with a greater purpose that honors your calling and serves your communities.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio and Libra (October 13 – November 3)

And now we reach Mercury Retrograde 2020 round three. This final Mercury Retrograde of the year will be in Scorpio and Libra, relationship signs. Love, sex, deep emotions, and pretty much any situation with someone else could be tricky. Don’t expect anyone to understand what you’re feeling, even when you try to tell them. And it might be hard to agree on things in general. This doesn’t have to be a problem unless you make it one. Before you go down the road assuming someone has negative intentions, ask them where they’re coming from. Be clear in your communication, but let it go after that. Worry less about the other person and reconsider what you want and need when it comes to intimacy. You can work on making that happen after Mercury turns direct.

Full Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Gemini (November 30)

Under this Gemini Full Moon Eclipse, you might find yourself and others more hypersensitized to what’s said and heard. In other words, communication is in the spotlight, including the conversations in your own head. If you’ve been too focused on the words, you might be surprised to discover the meaning is not what you thought. Lunar eclipses help us see things in another light and in Gemini, we can experience a flash of mental awakening. You’re ready for a new perspective, and to let go of unhealthy patterns of thinking and communicating that just limit your growth.

New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius (December 14)

The final eclipse of the year is the only TOTAL eclipse and it’s in Sagittarius, a sign that loves going out with a boom! The “boom” here is the truth. The truth about something is trying to reveal itself. Maybe you need to speak or hear it. Dare to challenge your own beliefs. Listen to your intuition when it lets you know something isn’t right, even if it means you’ve been wrong. Following the truth will lead to unexpected opportunities you won’t want to miss.

Jupiter enters Aquarius (December 19)

Whatever we can envision, it CAN happen! After twelve years, Jupiter’s back in Aquarius to bring expansion and confidence to our ideas and aspirations. It’s a time to think bigger and way outside the box, working together to overcome obstacles and create new opportunities. We can help each other recognize our blindspots and rigid ways of thinking and reinvent ourselves. You are a key part in this – our collective growth depends on all of us and how much we’re willing to love and support humanity.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Aquarius (December 21)

Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions happen about every twenty years and their cycle reflects social and personal direction. This time, they’re in Aquarius which opens the door to manifesting new ideas and solutions. We’re on the brink of breakthrough in cultural and global progress. Our “reality” can use some serious restructuring and we have the power within and among us to make it happen. What might have seemed “too far out there” in the recent past isn’t too much for today and tomorrow. When we look back years from now, this will be a turning point. This planetary transit is particularly positive for the practice and acceptance of astrology along with the entire realm metaphysics and different ways of thinking and understanding the universe. If you’ve been wanting to move forward with a new project, personal calling, or way of living, take advantage of this energy. Concepts and lofty ideals can be turned into something tangible and useful. Thoughts take form. Hope becomes a plan that yields results and benefits us all.
