When it comes to living a full-filled life, there are specific steps that we have to follow. Without these steps, it is impossible to feel satisfied. We always feel like something is missing because we don’t channel our inner motivation.

While some people are born with an inner fuel motivating them to fulfill their dreams, for others, it can be not easy to find a motivating factor. So today, I am going to tell you the secret steps that can help you channel your inner motivation. These steps can be the stepping stones in your journey to achieve your dreams.

Steps To Unlocking Your Inner Motivation

Do you start something and then leave it midway? Do you also feel an enthusiastic rush at the beginning of new things but lose motivation after some time? Don’t worry, I have got a cheat code for you!

Now, I will explain to you the important steps that helped me sustain my motivation for long periods. These proven strategies are applied by some of the most successful people and it helps them stay inspired for a long time.

1. Set A “SMART” Goal

Setting a goal is always the first step but what is the true essence of a goal? If you tell yourself that you are going to write a 50,000-word book in one day, can it be considered a goal? Your goal has to be “SMART”. What does a SMART goal mean? Well, it has to be:

S: SPECIFIC

M: MEASURABLE

A: ACHIEVABLE

R: RELEVANT

T: TIME-BOUND

Setting a SMART goal will give you clarity about what you are trying to achieve, and how you have to divide your time to achieve it. It will tell you if your goal is relevant and achievable or not.

2. Find Your Source

We all have that one Why inside of us that pushes us to work hard to get out goal. It pinches us every day and reminds us where we have to go. Your source can be anything like financial freedom, trying to prove yourself, a desire to make an impact, or simply having something meaningful in life. Finding your why will help you connect with your goal on a deeper level.

3. Divide Your Task

It can be overwhelming to look at your goal as a whole. Sometimes, when we think that we have a lot to do on our hands, we end up doing nothing because the fear of having to do a lot of work paralysis us. It is always better to divide your main goal into smaller, achievable tasks. Achieving one task at a time will give you a positive boost that will help fuel your enthusiasm.

4. Visual Representation Of The Goal

For some people, creating a visual representation board can be really helpful. You can collect images, quotes, or symbols that align with your goal. Place it on your wall or workstation, somewhere you can see it daily and be reminded of your destiny.

5. Set A Reward

For each task that you achieve, set a reward. It can be anything from treating yourself to your favorite meal or watching a new movie. Rewarding yourself will lead to positive thinking which is a big contributor to staying motivated.

6. Stay Positive

You are not always going to succeed on the first try, sometimes you might fail. Things might not go the way you plan them. Staying positive while facing setbacks is going to fuel your motivation. On the hand, negativity can very quickly suck out your creativity and motivation.

7. Be Flexible

As things change, sometimes you have to adjust according to them. You might have to make changes to your task map along the way as things develop. Do not be rigid. Learn to adapt to change. Being flexible helps you avoid being frustrated due to the changing situations and helps in staying motivated

8. Share Your Goal

Get a partner that you can share your goal with. Tell them what you want to achieve because they can help you stay motivated by reminding you of what you want. Your accountability partner can be anyone you trust but remember, be very wise while selecting them because you are only as good as the company you keep. Sharing your progress is a recognized way of staying on track.

9. Visualize Your Success

This is a mental exercise. Along the way, keep visualizing your success. Having a taste of it will help you stay hungry for more. Keep a record of everything that you do. You can write it in your journal and you can also record your next steps. Tracking your goals bolsters motivation.

10. Review Your Strategy

Make it a daily habit to review your strategy weekly or after a month. Check if it is working or if it needs to be refined. Make the needed adjustments to make sure that your strategy is effective.

The Importance Of Reading Success Stories

Other than following the steps I explained above, reading success stories and true stories of people who made it big can really motivate you. These are not the people who were born with a silver spoon, they struggled like you and me but still managed to achieve their goals.

One factor that you will find common in their stories is that they all were fueled by motivation. They faced countless setbacks but did not give up. These are the people we should really look up to. People like Abraham Lincoln, John Green, Demi Moore, Anais Nin, Will Smith, and J.K. Rowling among many others were dealt difficult hands by life but they did not back down.

Reading the success stories of people like us is a big contributor to our motivations. It really pushes us to think “If they can do it, what’s stopping you?”
