Nonduality, Non-Dualism and Duality Interesting Information

You might have heard about duality and non-duality. What do these words mean?

In this article, I would like to bring you a few facts and definitions in simple words, about the philosophy of Nonduality.

Before we start, it would be a good idea to say a few words about Duality meaning. In this way, it will be easier to understand what nonduality isn’t.

What Is Duality

Duality refers to the idea that reality is composed of two fundamental elements or forces that are in a constant state of interaction or opposition. Examples of duality include light and dark, good and evil, knowledge and ignorance.

Duality also refers to mind-body duality, where the mind and body are seen as two separate but interconnected entities.

The Non Dual Teachings, Thinking and Perspective

Nonduality, also known as non-dualism, is a philosophical and spiritual belief that there is no separation between the self and the universe, and that all things are ultimately one.

This perspective suggests that individual self and the external world are not two separate entities, but rather they are two aspects of a single, unchanging reality.

In nondual traditions, the aim is to experience this unity directly and to understand the world as it truly is, beyond the dualities of good and evil, self and other, and subject and object.

This way of life often involves meditation, self-reflection, and the abandonment of dualistic thinking in favor of a more holistic, interconnected view of reality.

In a nondual perspective, dualities like good and evil, self and other, subject and object, are seen as illusions that the mind creates. The ultimate goal is to realize one’s true nature as the unchanging and infinite consciousness that underlies all experience.

This realization is often described as enlightenment, self-realization, or liberation. It is said to bring an end to suffering and a profound sense of peace, love, and oneness with all things.

Nonduality is often associated with Eastern spiritual traditions, such as Advaita Vedanta, Zen Buddhism, and Taoism. You can also find this perspective on life in various forms within Western spirituality and philosophy.

This philosophy points to Oneness of all. People regard themselves as separate units, separate from the world and from other people. After removing the veil that the mind creates, you will be able to realize the Oneness of everything, and thereby, realize what nonduality is.
