Stir Up Your Sacral Chakra and Get Creative

-

How are you feeling? Are you connected to the energies of the spring and the coming summer? Are you feeling alive? Possible? Sexy? A bit mischievous? Passionate? Are you sensitive to the gentle tickle of the wind as it kisses your neck? Are you feeling empowered in your skin? Or are you feeling a bit stuck? Uncertain? Unmotivated? Maybe even sad? Blah? If the latter is more of your current narrative, it’s OK. It just means that your Sacral Chakra needs some attention, intention, and love. Those feelings are an invitation to spice it up a bit – to stir up your sacral chakra and get creative!

When the Sacral Chakra is balanced and spinning from a space of centered wholeness and harmony, it’s one of the most beautiful, fertile, and abundant experiences of life. You’re more connected to your feelings and emotions, open to pleasure, receptive to intimacy, and in a dance that’s fluid, shifting, captivating, and just downright ravishing. When your Sacral Chakra is aligned, you just feel good – playful, frisky, spicy, assured, liberated, and maybe even a bit daredevil-ish. It’s a feeling that’s anchored in knowing who you are, accepting who you are, and embodying who you are. Yes, that’s it: Embodiment. When your Sacral Chakra is in sync, you are embodied – fully present, aware, and available in the temple that houses your soul.

The Sacral Chakra is also the place where we carry deep-rooted fear, shame, regret, secrets, and emotional pain. It’s the storage place of our wounds, especially those around our femininity, sensuality, sexuality, and creative expression. In this way, the Sacral Chakra resembles the Heart Chakra and has often been called the “lower heart.” When the Sacral Chakra is unbalanced, there’s a block to our flow that expresses itself in many ways. A misaligned Sacral Chakra manifests as lack of inspiration, poor boundaries, rigidity, denial, guilt, shame, fear of sex, stagnation, poor stamina, dullness, depression, and an inability to connect. When the Sacral Chakra isn’t spinning with ease, we’re disconnected from pleasure and the abundant wellsprings of creativity and flow. There’s a disjointedness in our relationships, especially the one with self. And in many ways, this disjointed feeling leaves us feeling alien or like a foreigner within our bodies.

But there’s hope. And again, it’s OK. We all have moments when we feel out of sorts and just turned off – spiritually, creatively, emotionally, mentally, and physically. We’re cyclical in nature and a big part of the beauty and magic of the Sacral Chakra is learning to be in flow and open to when the flow shifts. This blog will provide you with some insights and ideas to re-engage when creatively you’re out of sync.

The health of the Sacral Chakra is essential. We know that when one chakra is out of alignment, it affects the other chakras and this is true for the Sacral Chakra. In many ways, the Sacral Chakra represents life itself. Honoring the Sacral Chakra is necessary for not just your vitality, but that of your children, families, community, and our planet. We don’t have to look far to see that the individual and collective Sacral Chakra is out of alignment. And as the Hermetic principle, the Law of Correspondence, reminds us, “As above, so below; as below, so above; as within, so without; as without, so within.” And with everything that’s happening in the world right now, we’re seeing a reflection of the individual and collective Sacral Chakra playing out on the world stage. With this revealing, we’re presented with a beautiful opportunity. Chaotic times are always a call for creativity and reconnecting with the natural flow of life. Chaos breeds new fertile grounds and invites us to welcome in the only constant in life, which is change. We are now presented with a beautiful opportunity to heal and restore the Sacral Chakra to its radiant and expressive glory. And although we cannot always physically touch one another right now (touch is another Sacral Chakra quality), this time invites us to touch greater depths of our soul, the collective soul.

Here are 4 tips to support the realigning and balance of your Sacral Chakra and as a result, stir up the magical pot of creativity.

1) Get Moving!

One of the things you can do right now, even as you read this, is to start moving your body. The body is over 70 percent water and when we move it, we help to release any stagnant energy that is stuck within. Movement practices such as dance, yoga, chi gong help anchor us into our bodies, allowing us to be more present to how we’re feeling. To move is to be embodied. So go ahead and turn on your favorite music. Allow your mind to relax and your body to get caught up in the syncopation and percussive beats. Close your eyes; let your arms sway like branches on a rooted tree and feel as your hips sway left to right, right to left to the sound of chimes and violins. Hold a vision of yourself as you move, encased in a glowing orange orb that’s rushing and pulsing with great ease, effortless like a waterfall.

2) Sit with your Inner Child … and LISTEN!

Most of the wounds that people carry can in some way be traced back to childhood. The environments we grew up in, the seeds of either encouragement or limitation that were planted by our parents and/or those we cherished and adored as children, shape our expression thus impacting our Sacral Chakra. Much work with the Sacral Chakra has to do with letting your inner child know that she/he is safe, loved, supported, seen, and matters. It’s OK to be curious and playful and adventurous. When your inner child is happy, healed, and whole, you have more freedom to play and express in a way that reflects your wholeness. And if we ever want to see a semblance of a healthy Sacral Chakra, we must heal the child within.

3) Connect with your Crystals

There’s no medicine like Earth medicine and crystals and stones help us to create with the healing power of Gaia in potent ways. A few gemstones to work with to support the alignment and balance of the Sacral Chakra include carnelian for natural energy and creative stimulation, peach moonstone for aligning your creative fertility and power with the phases of the Moon, tangerine quartz for increased sex drive and sexual endurance, and sunstone for tapping into your potential and enthusiasm. Keep these or any Sacral Chakra gemstones that you have at home handy and work with them to assist in bringing greater inspiration, creativity, and restoring harmony to your Sacral Chakra. Check out my book, The Ultimate Guide to Chakras, for more information on crystals, herbs, and recipes for the Sacral Chakra.

4) Clear out your Storage

Remember earlier when I said that the Sacral Chakra takes on a storage quality? Many women hold the energy of past lovers in their womb – the good, the trying and testing times, the memories of not doing something right, the pain of breaking up, emotional and sexual abuse, and so much more. Have you ever moved something into storage? Even if it’s organized and neat, there’s still a lot of stuff in there, most of which you don’t need yet are choosing to hold onto. Energetically, this is true for the Sacral Chakra. Take some time to sit in your storage, or Sacral Chakra, and go through the boxes there. What are you holding on to? Do you still need it? How does keeping it there make you feel? Are you coming across any abandoned dreams, ideas, and projects? Is anything in there salvageable? What can be recycled, repurposed, or simply discarded? Taking time to clear out your storage will open up space and allow more energy to circulate, which will ignite and inspire your creativity and passion. If nothing else, you will feel clear and light – the perfect canvas for inspiration to impress upon.
